The Economic Development Sales Tax Workshops are specifically designed for EDC Board Members and local elected officials. The 2019 workshops include information about economic and community development in general, and a discussion of changes to the Economic Development Sales Tax law that occurred during the 86th session of the Texas Legislature.

Partner Kent Hofmeister has been elected to serve on the Dallas Committee for a Qualified Judiciary for 2016. The CQJ is a non-partisan, non-profit, independent organization that was formed in 1982 for the sole purpose of promoting a competent, fair, and impartial judiciary system in Dallas County. The CQJ provides the voters of Dallas with information needed to elect qualified judges in both political primaries, runoffs, and in the general election. The CQJ only endorses candidates determined to be qualified for the judgeship they seek. Its members are attorneys and business and civic leaders from all parts of Dallas County.

Firm partner Terry Welch was a guest speaker at the New Directions in Environmental Law Conference at Yale Law School in New Haven, Connecticut on Friday, February 26, 2016.  He was also included as a panelist addressing “Local Governance Perspectives on Hydraulic Fracturing: Unveiling an Online Resource Assisting Decision-Making by Local Practitioners.”

Partner Kent Hofmeister is serving as Co-Chair of the Southern Methodist University Class of ’73 Reunion Committee.  The Reunion will be held during SMU’s homecoming festivities the weekend of September 26, and is part of SMU’s Centennial Celebration.
