This year’s seminar will address many current municipal issues and will provide legal perspectives and insights on those issues.
Presentations will include discussions about the following topics:
- Texas Open Meetings Act and the legal requirements for conducting public meetings, and common legal issues encountered by governments in complying with the Open Meetings Act.
- Contemporary legal concerns for local governmental entities, including the Texas Penal Code, ethics, social media, Attorney General Opinions, and more.
- An in-depth discussion of the 86th Texas Legislative Session and legislation affecting Texas municipalities.
- Short-term rentals and the fine line between what is considered residential and what is commercial.
- The legal issues faced by local govern-mental entities when drafting, negotiating and entering into contracts, as well as pertinent case law involving public contracts.
